This is a custom logotype masthead for a self-initiated magazine project that has me recalling the days of open, unrestricted travel and my love for the Hawaiian islands (or any tropical island at this point).
The goal here was to craft a logotype that pays tribute to letterforms seen in vintage Hawaiian travel adverts as well as some of the more whimsical tiki-style typography seen on posters and souvenirs.
I also wanted to infuse visual cues that conveyed movement and flow, thus the curved serifs and cutaways incorporated into the stem of each letterform.
